Further Thoughts on God’s Protection and Provision (Ps 91)

Thinking of Ps 91 again. (Pestilence shall not come near your dwelling. See the reward of the wicked as they fall on each side of you.)

No weapon formed against you will prosper. (Isa 54:17)

When you look at chapters 54 and 55, they are telling the reward of those who follow Christ (Chapter 53) and seek the Lord (55:6) while He is to be found.

Chapt 56 begins with the ‘conditions’ of God’s promises in these earlier chapters. (His promises are conditional.)

  • Keep your judgment and do justice.

Blessed is he that lays hold of the ‘judgment’ and keeps the sabbath without polluting it.

In the original language, judgment (Or justice) refers to observing the divine law. We are to keep justice (divine law) for righteousness and DO them.

Hmmm, this is followed by the blessings of not polluting the Sabbath. Vs 4 goes further in taking hold of the covenant. (The law).

Again, this reminds me of the verse that all things work to the good of those that LOVE God. (Rom 8:28).

Well, how do we show our love to God? Jesus said in John 14:15 that if we love Him, keep His commandments. John further writes in 1 John that if we do not obey His law, then we do not know Him.

There is a condition to God’s promises.

Are we meeting those conditions?

How do we do that?

  • Die to self.
  • Allow God to transform us so we are walking as Jesus walked.
  • Live a life of obedience and service.

Something to think about.
