No Plague Come Near Your Dwelling

As we start hearing of the next schemdemic with the monkeypox, I pray that instead of being ruled by fear, each reader will seek God’s will. Each will choose to walk in obedience to God’s health and moral laws.

This is a devotional post I shared a bit ago. Psalms 91 offers those who ‘dwell in the secret place of the most high’ precious promises of provision and protection.

I’ve been reviewing Ps 91 recently.

Some things struck me in a new way.

People like to focus on the promise of protection without looking at the conditions for the promises.

Conditions:

  1. Dwell in the secret place of the Most High. **This is actually the Most Holy of the sanctuary. Dwelling before the Mercy seat where God’s law is contained.

If you study prophecy, you know this is where Jesus currently stands. Rev 14:4 tells us that those who are protected during the plagues will be of a group who follows Jesus wherever He goes.

  1. Vs 14 says describes another condition: Set his love upon Me.

Loving God means walking in obedience. Jesus said in John 14: 15 that if you love me, keep my commandments.

1 John tells us that if we ‘know’ God, then we will walk in obedience to His law.

  1. Last condition: Vs 14 – ‘he hath known my name.’

Name often represents character. This time, name is from the word ‘shem.’ It’s a mark of authority, honor, character.

Ezek 20: 12 tells us that the Sabbath is a sign/mark between God and us that He is the Lord that sanctifies them. Sanctify means to make holy.

Known – yada – to know through all senses, to observe, recognize, instruct.

Know my name – observe my mark/sign.

When you begin digging into God’s word, you will find countless examples of how God expects His law to be observed in its entirety.

Satan was kicked out of heaven for breaking God’s law.

Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden for disobedience as to what they ate.

Disobedience = sin.

James 4:17 tells us that if you know what is right and do not do it, it is sin.

If you have no knowledge of the wrong, then it is not accounted to you as sin. IF you refuse to learn of right vs wrong, then you will be held accountable for not taking the opportunity to learn of God’s requirements. If you learn and ignore, it is sin.

Obedience is proof of love.

If we desire God’s protection in the upcoming days of tribulation, then it is important to walk in obedience.

Something to think about.
