Mind of Christ, Pt 4

  1. Recap 1
  • Rom 12:1-2 – Living sacrifice, do not conform to the world.
  • The Holy Spirit gives us the ‘mind of Christ.’
  • 1 Cor 2:12-16
  • Gal 4:19
  • Bring thoughts into captivity
  • Power of an attitude of gratitude

  1. Recap 2
  • Sleeping when we were told to be watchful.
  • Our lifestyle choices affect our brain and our spiritual condition – even to our food.
  • Take control over every thought.
  • God wants us to use the ‘Wise Mind.’

  1. Recap 3
  • To set a foundation for overcoming sin, we can follow Christ’s childhood example, even as adults.
  • Too often, we hear excuses that we can’t serve God because of all the bad things which happen to us. I do not believe a single human has ever experienced all that Christ did.

Upward Look Pg 89

Never forget that thoughts work our actions. Repeated actions form habits, and habits form character. Then in giving attention to the little things, there is no fear that the larger things will become stained and corrupted.

Frontal Lobe:

Never forget that thoughts work our actions. Repeated actions form habits, and habits form character. Then in giving attention to the little things, there is no fear that the larger things will become stained and corrupted.

Phil 4: 4-9

Mirror neurons; thoughts are powerful; experiences matter. Be intentional about our experiences.

Neuroplasticity – the brain has the ability to reroute around damaged parts.

Brain Powerhouse

  • At rest, the single neuron produces a resting voltage of 70 MV (.07 V)
  • To cause a neuron to fire, 10 MV is required. This is above the resting state.

James 1:5-6

  • James 1:5-6
  • When it comes to temptation, determination is key. If you are not 100% sure, then satan will amp up the voltage meter of the temptation. However, if we are firmly determined about our decision, then the thought will not rise again.

Brain Neurotransmitters

  • 2 main types
    • Excitatory (glutamate)
    • Inhibitory (GABA)
  • When a tempting thought enters our brain, our choice to yield or resist determines which neurotransmitter is released.
  • Prov 23:7
  • Prov 4:23-27
  • Heb 4:22

Brain Conflict

  • The brain doesn’t like conflict. If what we do is different than what we say (walk our talk), then the brain will rewire the synapse connections to match what we do. Conviction dies away.
  • This is why sin becomes easier and easier to do. Because you may SAY you believe a certain way, but if you do not DO what you say, then your BELIEF will disappear.
  • Can you understand the spiritual importance of this brain characteristic? It’s so very important to walk our talk.
  • Android Christians – people who SAY they believe but do not live up to that belief. (1 John 2: 3-6)

Dangers to the Mind:

  • Negativity causes the person to not be able to perceive reality. Highjacks the frontal lobe.
  • Fear shuts down the frontal lobe so you cannot make a rational decision.
  • Fake foods containing MSM (a form of glutamate) will cause excessive cell firing, ending with cell death.
  • These create leaky gut and open the BBB to allow the heavy metals in.

Satan is the originator of disease, and the physician is warring against his work and power. Sickness of the mind prevails everywhere. Nine-tenths of the diseases from which men suffer have their foundation here. Perhaps some living home trouble is, like a canker, eating to the very soul and weakening the life forces.

Remorse for sin sometimes undermines the constitution and unbalances the mind. There are erroneous doctrines also, such as that of an eternally burning hell and the endless torment of the wicked, that, by giving exaggerated and distorted views of the character of God, have produced the same result upon sensitive minds.
