Lovers of Pleasure

During my prayers this morning, a phrase popped into my mind.

2 Tim 3:1-5
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Paul was warning Timothy about PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH; those that claim to believe.

‘Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.’

‘What came to mind was the phrase ‘lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.’

Think about this. One who claims to be a child of God, yet watches violence on the TV, or plays video games that demonstrate lusts of the flesh.

Further thought…those who eat fake foods that lead to disease because you like the taste. I can tell you, there are chemicals in there to make you addicted to the taste.

No self-control. You will eat what you want to eat, no matter if it is bad for you or not. Because you deserve it. You work hard. You deserve to do as you want. Hmmmm

Lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.

Take the current maxination issue. People say they will NOT be maxinated, but the first time it is required for an object of pleasure (flight, cruise, concert, etc), they are lining up to be !nj3ct3d, no matter the dangers involved.

“Yeah, I know it is 3xp3r!m3ntal, but…’

Those ‘yeah, buts’ will kill you.

‘Yeah, buts’ come from wanting your own way, no matter the consequences.

‘Everyone else is doing it.’

If everyone else was taking strychnine, would you be lining up? If they were jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, would you be lining up?
‘Of course not, you say. It’s not the same thing.’ But isn’t it? When you start following the crowd no matter the rational facts behind it, you are in a ‘group think’ mode. This leads to destruction.

The Bible says that broad is the road to destruction. Narrow is the path to heaven. If everyone else is doing it, I can promise you that is not the right way.

God will have a remnant people who live lives of a primitive godliness. This means, they will have the purity that the apostles demonstrated. They will obey ALL of God’s laws (health and moral).

It is NOT God’s will to allow our bodies to become GMOs.

Something to think about.
