Thinking positively
Sometimes this world is a very negative place. The news is filled with the negative. The newspapers are filled with the negative. It is like no one wants to hear the good news that is going on in the world.
But in order to make it in the world, we need to fill our thoughts with positive thoughts. What we think about, that is what we become. When we think negative things, bad days happen to us. We focus on the bad, people are grouchy to us.
On the otherhand, if we focus on the positive, then we see the good in things. We see the flowers in nature. We see the beauty in a sunrise or sunset. We see the smile in a passing stranger. We see the beauty of a toddler’s antics.
I am not saying there isn’t bad in the world. There are bad things in the world. Sin is running rampant. As time gets closer to Christ’s second coming, it will get worse. But if we focus on the positive, we will see the good that is still around. We will not be victims in our mind.
We can accomplish many things if we focus on the positive. We can become the top 5% of the population by focusing on the positive. We can become proactive, rather than reactive. We can set our goals and work through them.
And accomplish them – by thinking positively. One day at a time. In recovery anything is possible.
If you keep focusing on the negative, you won’t have much of a recovery. Recovery is a positive experience. It is learning to live life on life’s terms in a more positive way.
Bad things happen. That’s life. But thinking positively can help you deal with whatever life dishes out. God never gives you more than you can handle. He always provides a way through anything.
I have been listening to some excellent tapes lately. “Lead the Field” by Earl Nightingale is one. It is an old one. You might be able to find it in the library. It starts talking of attitude being the first thing that is the answer to accomplishing your goals in life.
Having a positive attitude isn’t always easy, but it is well worth it. It takes a lot of practice to learn how to change a negative one to a positive one. Once in another post I wrote how Drs believe that negative attitudes are one of the leading causes of depression. Can you see how important attitude is?
Let’s work together to keep a positive attitude. One day at a time.
