Keeping a positive attitude
Keeping a positive attitude is key to making it in today’s society. It is the key to recovery. There are some days when it is almost impossible to keep a positive attitude. Murphey’s Law seems to run riot around the place. No matter what I do, or did, I couldn’t seem to keep a positive attitude.
Fortunately, most of those days are gone now. Looking back, I can’t say for sure what the turning point was in my life. I know one thing was finally forgiving my father was a big turning point. From that point on, things have gone from 20 mph in my life to 75 mph in my life in the recovery section.
My attitude has changed in my everyday outlook. I am not saying bad things have not happened. I have had a lot of bad things happen in my life, but I haven’t let them get me down. I choose to look at the positive side of things. It isn’t always easy. Some days, it is very hard. But the more I do it, the easier it gets.
Positive begets positive. Like attracts like. When you hang around positive people, you become more positive yourself. Likewise, if you hang around negative people, you will hear yourself repeating negative things.
So if you are keeping company with dogs, you will get fleas. Change our company. Change your attitude. You will see an improvement in your recovery.
Not all days are good. Bad things happen, but things could be worse. Look at the positive side of things. Count your blessings. Remember the attitude of gratitude I talked about earlier. It will go far in your recovery from mental illness.
